This was the most imp. session on the last day with UNCAD Secretariat head Mr. Hassan Qaqaya and Robin Simpson Head of CI Policy. COO-Consumer Voice was chosen to represent consumer interests during the discussions. CI is keen to see e-commerce, financial transactions, remittances, online businesses besides others points to be included with major opposition from US.
This was regarding the debate on revision of the UNGCP resolution on proposed amendment of the UN consumer protection guidelines in 2015 by the General Assembly.
Mr. Manoj Parida, JS India, promised Indian government support in the negotiations and India's participation in the proposed UNGCP / UNCAD meetings.
Before this there was a 2 day CI Regional Meet consisting of 61 members from Asia Pacific & Middle East.
